His service in the 50's was with the Army Corps of Engineers.   We lost him and Lyle Wagner,  US. Army 1953-55 in Germany, on the same day,   March 17, 2020.

Here he's trying to woo the English Girl, Patricia Rawnsley (Sarah Miles)  :lol: she is the daughter of the English Newspaper Owner Lord Rawnsley (Robert Morley), Lord Rawnsley is the originator of the race, his paper is publicizing it and posting the prize money, and doesn't like the American 'One Wit"  :lol:
