TCSchultz Posted March 9, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2020 I was sorting out my US Army EM Collar Devices and remember this Army Air Forces one that I had found some time ago that was a mistrike. Apparently the winged propeller device wasn't aligned when it was struck but they used it anyways in this screwback device. Needless to say it makes an unusual "mint error" as it were and too bad it's not a coin!
mikie Posted March 9, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2020 Cool. A neat conversation piece for sure! I can't imagine a self respecting airman wearing that. I wonder if a factory worker brought it home as a souvenir?
TCSchultz Posted April 3, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted April 3, 2020 I think it was sent out to an insignia store but never sold as I recall that I found with a large lot of carded EM Devices.
MikeK Posted April 12, 2020 Share #4 Posted April 12, 2020 I just noticed this thread. Interesting! It looks like the strike was fine but the alignment was way off when it was trimmed. I'm surprised it was finished (screwpost attached and then all gilded) and not scrapped on the spot! Great error item. Regards Mike
