Persian Gulf Command Posted March 9, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2020 What effect does various writing notations, Cancellations, Rescinded, Obsolete stamps have on covers of Field/Technical Manuals? Will it devalue or enhance the document?
gwb123 Posted March 9, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2020 My thought would be the subject matter and overall condition would be the most important factors in determining value. To me, unit markings make the manuals more interesting and historic. The same with classification markings. But I m sure there are those who prefer them unmarked as well. Longbranch Posted March 9, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2020 Depends on the marking. Sloppy scribbling that defaces a large. portion of the cover are typically detrimental. I had a basic field manual neatly stamped as belonging to a USMC Parachute Battalion, and named to a specific marine that had an interesting background. Those markings improved the value. So like I said, it depends.
