johnny12550 Posted March 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 5, 2020 This is a tintype that is pretty big for its time. It is 8.5 x 6.5 inches. Based on the uniform can anyone tell if this Civil War era or Indian Wars. Thanks
MAW Posted March 5, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 5, 2020 Civil war frock coat. 9 button front, infantry piping at the cuffs if you look close.

scottiques Posted March 10, 2020 Share #4 Posted March 10, 2020 Agree that it is a Civil War uniform. The photograph is most likely a post war copy image--fuzzy/ not sharp focus to details and heavy paint or coloration. Creating larger images (blow ups) of Civil War images was a big part of the work of the typical late 19th photo studio. Scott
johnny12550 Posted March 10, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted March 10, 2020 The image is sharper and clearer than seen in the pictures. It is in a frame and I was trying to take pics through the glass without showing any reflection.
