carrabassett Posted March 1, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2020 I picked this up recently and here's the story. Came from a guy who was an advisor in Vietnam (through a friend). However, this guy was also a life long collector of military items so uncertain if it actually was a bring-back from him or just something he had picked up over the past 60+ years of collecting. Anyway, it intrigued me and I would love to see what others had to say. Initially, I thought it was some modern repro and I'm not an expert in these things but in doing some research, it seems like this might actually be a WW2 stock that was modified. I've taken pictures of the "important" sites where markings, etc. should be found on the wood stock but obviously the metal part of the stock and butt plate are totally fabricated. Could this be a theatre-made para stock from an original WW2 stock? Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Vietnam era possibly? Would love anyone's thoughts or expertise or even theories! Thanks so much in advance for looking and commenting.

usmcdoc67 Posted March 2, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 2, 2020 Fore stock looks legit. Has "IO" stamped in correct spot as best can tell from pics. "RI/3" replacement grip is ok. Rest is made up from, well junk (no disrespect intended).
