This is a strange one.  Can't find a Naval Aviator with this name and the 509th Bomb Group is not a Navy Unit.

Maybe they mixed up the wing pattern when they carved it. Lots of sailors, not too many airman

Can't find anyone in the Air Corps with name also. Strange.

Exactly, makes no sense. Naval Aviator attached to the unit for some unknown reason ???

Cool font, very rakish.  The T looks like a Thunderbird. They sure can't impress/engrave like that anymore.  Whatever it is, it wasn't made in China or India last week.
