Help needed: identify this WW1-era cover (Navy/Marine aviation?)

Recently came into possession of the visor cover below. Green with a black crepe band, black chinstrap and subdued USMC eagle and anchor buttons. Some friends have tentatively put forward an ID of a Naval or Marine Aviation EM working cap, WW1 era. I'd appreciate any help in giving this cover a firmer ID or attribution.

Three views: side, front, and private make label inside crown. Plain top, no braid cross on top of the cover.

M1902 Cap ...Looks like one.

Did the brim have gold braid on it at one time? Looks like remnants of something was on it ?

No evidence of scrambled eggs on the brim, which is pretty heat damaged. No cross embroidery on the crown.

A friend has gotten a lot of good input on it on FB, and the consensus in that discussion is leaning toward WW1 era Naval Department aviation, with a lot of vigorous debate over Navy EM vs. Marine.

No obvious of evidence of stitching for a naval aviation fabric badge on the mohair. No evidence of a hole for the stud of a globe and anchor in the front of the crown. Ill get a better pic of the strap buttons and post it tonight.

Not surprised on consensus WWI Navy aviation, but Marine Corps Officers caps always had the quarterfoil on top. I don’t believe they wore the green wool black mohair band but Naval aviators did. Lower ranks would have a plan black leather visor like this one. Don’t know if the Navy officers eagle for the front would have been pin back during this period, but a possibility. Good luck.
