917601 Posted February 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2020 I was at our local Legion and noticed an elderly vet wearing a Rakkasans , Korean War , Airborne vet hat. 187th Airborne, my son and I sat down and talked for awhile, amazing recollections. Simon is his name. His picture posted with permission in the hopes other Rakkasans can reconnect.

917601 Posted February 8, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted February 8, 2020 Yeh, his mind is still sharp. Myself being an Airborne guy, we talked about some of his jump stories. Says he made two combat jumps, then four of them went home to train troops at Ft Drum for while. He instructed a bunch of " Communist lunches ( what he called green GIs) on how to eat the Commies for dinner". Speaking of dinner, my boy and him ate a few orders of French fries together. A most enjoyable evening.
