Bodes Posted February 6, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 6, 2020 I'm thinking Lutheran, since it's next to Protestant for religion.....Bodes
mds308 Posted February 6, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted February 6, 2020 I thought that too but why 2 religions? I guess he's a Protestant Lutheran. What about the date of the tag? Thanks.
Bodes Posted February 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted February 6, 2020 I thought that too but why 2 religions? I guess he's a Protestant Lutheran. What about the date of the tag? Thanks. Officers often had an O prefix before their service number on WW2 tags....Also WW2 tags like yours included tetanus booster shot information.....I'm guessing your tags are between WW2 and Vietnam....WW2 USN were round like marine corps....Sometime in the 60's they discontinued SN's for Social Security numbers....Bodes

mds308 Posted February 6, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted February 6, 2020 Thanks. I did find his obituary but it was limited on information. He died in 2019 and the age was given as 77. I was figuring 1942 but 41 would be good. This would put the tags as an earliest date of 1959 - 1960 assuming he joined after high school. Thanks for the help.
