sundance Posted January 31, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 31, 2020 Well that's a bit of a puzzle. I'll throw out some thoughts - probably the obvious ones. It looks like it's starting out with 2 initials and an "Mc" or maybe just 3 initials. Clearly ends with a Jr. The last name appears to end with "land" or at least "and". McClelland? I'll try to ponder it a bit more later. Good luck.
aznation Posted January 31, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 31, 2020 Last name looks like McClelland Jr to me as well. As for the first and second initial, I'm not sure. Any idea as to where the sword came from originally, like city and/or state? Also, what service does that sword belong to and what time period if you know? reschenk Posted January 31, 2020 Share #13 Posted January 31, 2020 Give us a clue. Post info on the sword. i/e/ a photo and also a photo of the name of the retailer/maker usually etched on the ricasso. With this we can narrow down the time frame and can perhaps ID the owner from the Navy Registar of Officers.

reschenk Posted January 31, 2020 Share #16 Posted January 31, 2020 The name of the maker/retailer is usually on the reverse ricasso, the side opposite of the "MADE U.S.A." you pictured.
reschenk Posted January 31, 2020 Share #17 Posted January 31, 2020 This one has me a bit stumped. This sword is from 1930+/-10years. The Register of Navy Officers list only two McClellands servubgg in that timeframe, primarily John James McClelland and in the 1920 end, Stewart Winning McClelland. Neither of these would seem to fit the first two initials.
Jay V Posted January 31, 2020 Author Share #18 Posted January 31, 2020 Hi Reschenk Wellthe maker mark is kinda faint, but was able to read it it's N.S Meyer Inc New York. Thanks to all for helping,Jay
