VMI88 Posted January 29, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 29, 2020 This 1940 Virginia National Guard Yearbook was a recent find. Not in perfect condition, but I picked it up for the information and photos on the various units throughout the Commonwealth. VMI88 Posted January 29, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted January 29, 2020 Here are close-ups of the unit photo - many of these men would go on to land at Omaha Beach four years later. In the second photo, the third man from the left in the front row is Ray Nance, last survivor of the Bedford Boys. Many of the other names are recognizable as D-Day veterans. patches Posted January 29, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2020 That's quite a find, good job. A great research tool for 29ers.
everforward Posted January 29, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2020 Yes, a great reference source and a must-have when building a 29/116 library. Many of the originals who would become Normandy soldiers are pictured in this volume, as is Frank Peregory in the Co. K section...he was awarded the MOH on 8 June ‘44, and KIA just 5 days later....he never knew about it.
