TRENCH BOOTS, SERVICE SHOES, or WORK BOOTS?

So, I found these boots while cleaning out a basement that had been flooded. Although they are dark, they are brown, have a cap toe but no holes, and a full composition sole. Only makings that remain are on the side of the boot and the sole. They remind me more of a WWII service shoe, but Id like to hear what our members think.

Thanks Bodes for your input. I agree that they definitely have a military style about them.

So, I found reference to a WWII pair of 1943 double buckle boots with the soles made by the same manufacturer and a pair of M1948 combat boots with the same sole manufacturer ("LIGHT TREAD HT").

What about the cap toes without the holes? Anyone have an example of these for WWII?
