M1 WW2 Westinghouse jungle helmet liner

Here is a well worn jungle liner I purchased this week. I compared it against a well preserved example and the tones line up nicely. The name on the front is BACKES E.G. (I think). The code is D25 and the steel A frames have a zinc coating. The nape strap is not folded behind the A frames on the ends on this worn example. I think is earlier than the pristine one for the reason of steel A frames versus green painted.

The chromate templated tones are quite uniform as are the chocolate tones. The medium greens are more loosely applied.

It's a shame the paint didn't adhere well to this liner, beyond the paint loss it seems to be in pretty good condition.

I was bidding on this one as well actually, glad to see it went to a forum member!

Once I saw it was a jungle liner, I was driven.

Driven to what? Buy it so you could post it here and then put it right back on ebay? I don't get it.

Yeah, perhaps. What is your issue?

Sorry, I thought you were a collector who was interested in the history of the liner rather than someone using the forum to flog an item for a few bucks. My bad.

Makin friends and influenecing people. i thought it was just me with my ..Used in the Pacific? Helmet.

Yea its a travesty theres that big for sale section on the forum where hstory is bought and sold. Ebay too where I bought 95%

of my historic items. People should have just given them to me....... and judging by my kids reaction to it all... If I dont slowly sell it off, It'll prob get tossed someday. Terrible thing. Like trying to figure out what stencils are on certain helmets. What certain symbols on them are. How the name might link it all together.

Imagine that.

Nice liner by the way to the original poster ! Thank you for sharing.

I hope when you finally part with it. You make a great buck !

Thanks Rooster77. For heaven’s sake, I will leave this one alone.. it is plainly presented for all to see. An adult conversation may be due but not posted openly. AEF1917, if you have an issue, message me privately.

BILL THE PATCH

This was starting to be a good thread. What the hell happened. As I see it do what you want with it, IT YOURS. So what if you make a buck. I think everyone has made money in his collection. That's the name of the game, buy and sell, and in between add piece's to your collection. Great liner and if you sell it I hope you make a fortune. Do pay no attention to fools
