hirsca Posted January 11, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2020 Estate sale find. Nested in a Baker Lockwood 1941 carrier with the seam at the back. Appears to be a pre 1918 canteen, but with a 1945 dated plastic cap and a steel chain. Common for older canteens to be refitted with newer caps? Thanks, Al
268th C.A. Posted January 11, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2020 If it was broken and repairable it was usully repaired taged combat servicable and re issued. Very common to see older canteens with later type caps.
