museums Posted January 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2020 Thought some of you might enjoy seeing this. It's the original prototype for what became the Fifth Army (later Army North) SSI. It's painted leather, and was submitted to LTG Mark Clark in a contest in North Africa to design the Fifth Army's new patch. The designers were Orris M Evers and Maurice E Barker. It was selected as the winner and approved for use 18 February 1943. This unique SSI now resides in the US Army museum at Fort Sam Houston, TX.
