irish Posted December 22, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2019 This Di has been at times attributed to the OSS, as well at times the Psychological Warfare branch of the OSS. If my memory serves me there was an article a number of years back in the Trading Post that discussed this insignia and showed it in wear. It could also be a branch of service piece. The badge shown here is in my opinion post war and by the looks of the manufacture could possibly be Asian made but not sure. It is painted and has a flat back with a small type pair of clutches for wear. I have another version with a very distinctive German pin back. In addition there is a British made version by Gaunt I believe. Would appreciate any additional thoughts on this design and its usage. Thanks. tredhed2 Posted December 24, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2019 Have always thought these were more of a BOS insigne. I know the paint tends to distinguish DIs from BOS, coupled w/ the Psych Branch being a "unit" of the OSS, but this may be one that is never positvely and specifically IDd other than OSS. FWIW, just soid a GM one. I have a Robbins HM example (SB).
irish Posted December 24, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted December 24, 2019 Thanks Dave, BOS does make a bit more sense. The Robbins screw back piece sounds quite interesting. Was I correct in saying there was an article in the Trading Post on this subject. Merry Christmas Jack
