mohawkALSE Posted December 18, 2019 Share #4 Posted December 18, 2019 Thats a private purchase one from recent years before they went out of business. Brigade QM used to sell Camillus knives at the PX/BX Clothing Sales stores on post/base. I bought one of these at the PX back around 2001-2002. If it was a military contract one from the 80s or earlier, it would have just Camillus and the date it was made on the pummel. Early issue ones from the mid 60s were marked where yours is but without that logo etc.
sactroop Posted December 18, 2019 Share #5 Posted December 18, 2019 Here's an image of a purchase order sheet from the Army Air Force Exchange Service to Camillus for the knife you have. The date of the order is after the Government had stopped contracting these knives from Camillus, but like mohawkALSE said above they were available thru the BX on Air Force bases. Since its not some rare old one, what do you think about applying some lanolin to the leather and cleaning the whole thing up? Meaning I dont think it would hurt the value any ? elbertson Posted December 26, 2019 Share #7 Posted December 26, 2019 I would clean it up and use it...that’s where it’s value lies. They also make great practical gifts for new recruits, Boy Scouts, forestry workers, etc.
