Milsurp Collection Downsized - These Made the Cut

A tough decision to make as you get older, is what to keep, and what to get rid of. It’s fairly easy to get rid of duplicates and weapons you don’t shoot any more. But, It’s really hard to stay off your favorite auction sites, quit going to CMP in Anniston, and stop buying generally. Over the last couple of years, I’ve sold off the Mosin’s, Mausers, Kraigs, several Garands, Carbines, an unissued Model 11 military riot shotgun, 1917, 1911, and others. These are the few I’ll keep and pass on. Anyone else given any thought to what you’re going to keep and why? What’s going to be on your keep list? (I might have to find an M1A1...).

Who's the maker on the carbine you're holding on to? Were you able to get the money you were looking for on the ones you've sold? I've got some I could certainly unload but I'm Not quite there.

Thats a good group of fun shooters to keep. I hope downsizing is a long time away for me because I could never imagine selling a gun, however, my list that I would never get rid of so far are my first 1943 dated M1, M1D, 1911 West Point class pistols, and an interesting espagne 92, which I have some circumstantial evidence may have been used and brought back by a WW1 veteran.

It’s a 3/44 Underwood that I got several years ago through the CMP auction site. It’s stamped Bavaria Municipal Police on the receiver, which is a fairly rare Bavaria carbine. If anyone has not been on the Bavarian Carbine site, they should visit it because those carbines have a pretty interesting history.

 

The M1D is a Winchester picked up in Anniston when they were selling them as a set.

 

I’ve probably made enough on the guns I’ve sold, to make a sizable dent in the ones I’ve kept.

selling off is someting i have been doing, it is sad, but a must do, hope it ends up in good hands
