I have one similar, maybe a little better that I paid $600 for several years ago. I may have over-paid as I wanted it. Hope this helps.

Thanks Keith.

Ouch, poor washers. Don’t have my books or archive handy but I’d guess,....eh $400ish. Washers cracked and not dated. Case is not really rare but the finish looks nice if it’s original and it does have a nice m6 which looks correct. Again if it’s all original, I may have that a bit lowballed. See what others say.

Thanks Okie.

Between the suggestions here and looking at examples which have sold on eBay I'm going to put it in the for sale section at $450 including shipping from the UK, and if there's no interest I'll try ebay.

I've owned it for twenty five years and bought it from an older collector here when I was in my teens. It does have a story attached, but without any solid evidence to support it that's unfortunately all it is, a story. The collector I got it from claimed to have obtained it from a gentleman in Suffolk who found it near the crash site of a B-17, but as I say it's just a story.

Thanks,

Matt.

A question; would putting a flexible glue in the broken washers then clamping them so the gap is closed, using a screw type hose clamp, would this diminish the value of the knife?

I would not mess with it, gluing it, etc.

It is what it is, and I personally wouldn*t buy one that had been repaired.

And, FWIW, I think $450 is absolute top of the mark. Common knife, in one of the more common sheaths (L&C being the other). If it was a Moose or Barwood, different conversation.

Overall nice honest piece you have.
