I.D. Badge Robert Warren 1st Massachusetts Cavalry

This is a sterling silver badge of Robert J.Warren Co I 1st Mass Cav. . Warren was a 21 year old machinist from Lowell Massachusetts , he enlisted in the 47th Mass Infantry on October 20,1862 as a corporal. He served in the New Orleans area with this unit , until September 1,1863 when he mustered out. He then re-enlisted in the 1st Mass. Cavalry as a Sargent on December 5,1863. His Company and 4 others made up the 3rd Battalion of Massachusetts Cavalry serving in the Charleston S.C. area and Florida until he mustered out on July 18,1865. post-137056-0-96897200-1574782824_thumb.jpeg

I do collect dog tags, yes. I have a few Civil War sutler ID tags myself. Fascinating history!
