Salvage Sailor Posted November 28, 2019 Share #4 Posted November 28, 2019 Nice flight jacket, Fourth Air Force, 371st Fighter Squadron. The history notes "EMBLEM. None" so you've got a nice find which bears further research Source: COMBAT SQUADRONS OF THE AIR FORCE-WORLD WAR II, page 460 Fourth Air Force P-38 Lightning Replacement Training Squadron in CONUS (No overseas service in WWII) The Lightnings were built at Lockheed in Burbank, CA so it makes sense that the training squadron was also located in Southern California as they rolled off of the assembly line and into the hands of novice pilots. 371st FIGHTER LINEAGE. Constituted 371st Fighter Squadron on 20 Dec 1942. Activated on 15 Jan 1943. Disbanded on 31 Mar 1944. ASSIGNMENTS. 360th Fighter Group, 15 Jan 1943-31 Mar 1944. STATIONS. March Field, Calif, 15 Jan 1943; Glendale, Calif, 15 Jan 1943; Muroc AAB, Calif, 14 Apr 1943; Salinas AAB, Calif, 25 Sep 1943; Santa Maria AAFld, Calif, 3 Jan-31 Mar 1944. AIRCRAFT. P-38, 1943-1944.
