Heres my dog tag, at first when I found it I thought the usual tag used for a screw driver, We have all seen them, After getting home and researching a little, I find him in Korea 7th Marines 1st Marine Division (ancestry roster) Winstead Willi William T. 1120403ad gold star in lieu of second Purple Heart 1 Jan 52 by 00 7th Marines 1st Mar Div

I don't think he was KIA so why a Gold Star...I also thought maybe this was on his temporary grave marker tag ??.

experts chime in, Regards David

Hey David! Miss you out here in Texas. Hope you've settled in up East. The Gold Star on USMC/USN awards signify additional awards just like the OLC on Army decs. Best Regards - Bob

I have a tag much like this. Has been on a key ring for years and used as a screwdriver.

Your man passed away in 2010. See Find A Grave.
