1srelluc Posted November 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2019 I came up with a right nice blade marked Camillus,NY USN MK-2 today. It looks to have the factory edge still on it. Most of the wear seems to be scabbard wear from removal and insertion. When did Camillus move from blade to cross-guard markings? The reason I ask is because the sheath had a NORD # of 6581 which I read was a 1944 contract. I guess the MK-2 and scabbard could have been coupled at any time, I was just wondering. mikedon Posted November 16, 2019 Share #2 Posted November 16, 2019 An August 2006 Knife World article states the Naval Ordinance specifications sheet was changed 5-30-44 moving the markings to the guard. The changeover probably did not occur that very day but waited until new dies could be obtained.
