nchistory Posted November 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2019 Tough to find US Marine unit, 1st Parachute Regiment. Seek any info, MOS, and copy of his article. Catholic Manual 1942, personal item of Sgt. Charles E McKenna of Pennsylvania. Inscribed “Chas McKenna USMC 1st Parachute Regiment Semper fidelis” and by his daughter later “Kathleen McKenna” Given the bend and wear, he no doubt carried this with him into combat. I haven’t found much on McKenna’s war record, yet I do see he was with the 1st at Bougainville, he wrote an article on the battle of HILL 1000.' Sgt Charles E. McKenna, "Saving Lives on Bougainville," Marine Corps Gazette.. March 1944. All help is greatly appreciated.
