WEAVER45 Posted November 13, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2019 I have seen most B and B silver stars on a wrap brooch not slot brooch. Was this medal re-ribboned or did the manufacture make them with a slot brooch? The number on the medal is 18281. Was this medal issued to a WWI or WWII vet? Hermanus Posted November 13, 2019 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2019 BB&B used a split wrap brooch on its first contract Silver Stars. A Silver Star in this number range was issued to WW1 veterans. So I would say re-ribboned. Regards Herman

KASTAUFFER Posted November 13, 2019 Share #6 Posted November 13, 2019 Its been re-ribboned and they did a GOOD job too, even if its a slot brooch.
WEAVER45 Posted November 13, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted November 13, 2019 that's why I was questioning it to. Whoever re-ribboned it did do a good job.
Allan H. Posted November 14, 2019 Share #8 Posted November 14, 2019 For clarification's sake- while the number is in the range for issue to World War I veterans, it has been my experience that these medals are always named. I would assume that this one may have been issued early in World War II? Allan

I would assume that this one may have been issued early in World War II? Allan Hi Allan Generally BBB SS's numbered above 11,000 were WWII awards. There is some crossover as late WWI requests were fullfilled, but WWI awards are always named. Some WWII issued medals are named too. If a BBB SS in un-named it was awarded during WWII. WEAVER45 Posted November 14, 2019 Author Share #10 Posted November 14, 2019 So what I have is a world war II issue silver Star. Now all I have to do is search every general order in 1942 and 1943 and I hope that I can find this silver Star number on the general order. There are some WWII general orders online.Looks like a long shot but I'll keep my eyes open in the future. Thanks for the help.
