I believe in miracles as much as the next guy but since I owned this uniform and sold it about 6 months ago it has miraculously gained a set of officer's 17th Cavalry insignia and an extra US insignia.--It may have changed hands several times since I owned it but there is no doubt it is the same service coat I had...

-one of the giveaways are the markings and writing inside the collar.  It is now listed on ebay in the WWI uniform section---first picture is from my collection, the second is from the current listing....

be careful, it's crazy out there....

and by the way, someone removed the original rounded-edge buttons and replaced them with the later rimmed-edge version.   I guess they'll be miraculously appearing on an other uniform.....

Thank you for posting this, I was actually pondering a purchase. Such activity takes the fun out of collecting.

Glad to help--just a darn shame that a simple, nice authentic uniform had to be "upgraded" and lost its original buttons---and gained quite a wordy history on the auction site.

What a shame.

Well somebody went for it and paid $200 for it....next time it shows up for auction it will probably be attributed to General Pershing...and no telling where the original buttons will end up....

Just a heads up -- the same guy now has a 2nd Georgia Infantry uniform from the Mexican Border period for sale in the WWI uniform section...no telling what this uniform started as but chances are.....
