Hi,

I just watched this great footage of P-47s and P-38s taking off on an escort mission, lots of B-17 and B-24 footage with flak and fighter attacks....... one of the best films I've seen....

Great video! Mostly clear as a bell! Looks like early to mid-1943 based on markings. The P-47s are from the 56th Fighter Group and then 4th Fighter Group before they changed over to the P-51. Don't know about the P-39s. Thanks for the link! Bobgee

John,

The full film, also on YouTube, with about 10 minutes of additional footage, is titled "Ramrod" to Emden! A USAAF production shot in 1943, featuring the 56th Fighter Group. The beginning, and ending footage that was cut from this version, shows several of the 56th's well known aces and leaders, such as Gabreski and Jerry Johnson.

Regards, Paul
