Did you know about these?

I came across this a few years back, thought it was a chromed artillery shell, went to pick it up and about flung it across the store LOL. Well I figured out real quick it wasn't a REAL artillery shell, I was like what the heck is this? So I bought it and when I got home and started messing with it I realized the top comes off. Turns out it's a facsimile trench art shell that is actually a beverage shaker. Made out of thin metal. Did some research and found out that after WW1 trenchart was so popular that it was hard to get, so some companies made facsimile trench art, I have seen tea sets, and other sets made like this. I don't think it's very common. Just thought I'd share.

It may be a replica shell, but you can still get bombed with it. Cool piece. I had no idea about such things.

I have one too! Mine is missing the little nose piece. From what I found they were originally sold with little shell shot-glasses too!

maybe I'll bring mine to the SoS this year and shake things up a bit...

  • 10 months later...

My friend has one and it is marked: "French Seventy-Five"  and is meant for the mixed drink of the same name.  We drank from it at Sgt. York State Park, after firing a series of salutes on the 100th anniversary at 11/11/2018 with a real French-Seventy-Five.  Tasted great!
