Type II Service Shoes with no cap toe

Hello,

The vast majority of the Type II service shoes that I have seen have the typical "cap toe". However, I have seen on occasion shoes that are identical to the cap toes but have a plain toe, ie no cap.

Was this type of shoe issued at the same time, or is it some type of private purchase.

BTW, were the cap toes worn by enlisted men for dress through the end of the war?

Many thanks,

Joe
