AirMechanic Posted October 22, 2019 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2019 Does anyone know what type of US Navy jacket this is? I posted this in the unknown, can you identify section, but nobody seems to know. Anyhow, I believe it is a deck jacket, but I dont know the specification/type or when it dates from. The jacket has two non-buttonable breast pockets (USN ink stamp above left pocket), an integral wool lining, wool lined collar, a zipper closure underneath the outer main row of buttons (zipper marked Waldes), and a neck tag number which says: N140-62236s-38703B. It does not have lower pockets or knit cuffs. While it does look somewhat similar to the Navy A-2 deck jacket, the main difference is in the pockets (A-2: one buttonable breast pocket, two slash pockets; this jacket: two nonbuttonable breast pockets, no slash pockets). Can anyone identify it? Any help is appreciated!
doyler Posted October 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2019 Looks like a post WW2 version of the Deck jacket. Later versions had a single upper chest pocket and two hand warmer side pockets
