Green Ames 69 e tool

I came across the green Ames 69 dated e tool. In American Web Gear Equipment 1910-1967 page 62 it states that they were originally issued in green. Thoughts on this e tool would be great.

Wow, I have never seen a green Ames shovel before. Not trying to hijack this thread, as I have already posted this before, but for comparison purposes here is my 69 dated shovel (ignore the canteen, this is the only picture of the date I have on hand). It seems that funky colors were normal for 1969, because your shovel is green, and mine is purple!

A side by side comparison of the 68 and 69 Ames e tool. Notice the notches on the hinge of the black 68 dated e tool.

Another side by side picture of the Ames 68 and 69 e tools. The 68, black, blade is flatter. The book U.S. Army Uniform of the Vietnam War by Shelby Stanton pages 174-176 has some good information about the early improvements to this e tool/shovel.
