Are there any maker markings inside the hat around the leather sweatband?

Hi Tony,

I'm almost 100% sure that the hat you have posted here relates to the Soldiers' Orphans' Industrial School that was located in Scotland, Pennsylvania.  The earliest article I found on the FultonHistory.com website was 1893 and the latest being 1923.  Evidently in 1951 it was renamed Scotland School for Veterans' Children and was closed in June 2009 due to lack of funding.  The original purpose of this institution was to take care of, educate, and train the orphans of Civil War veterans.

If you do a Google search for "soldiers orphans industrial school" (with the quotes), you'll find quite a bit of information about the school.

Here's a picture of the band who appear to be wearing similar style hats.

Here's the Coat of Arms for the State of Pennsylvania.  It matches the button on your hat I believe.
