cav_cdr Posted September 26, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2019 Can anyone provide or, direct me to photos and descriptions of the .38 S&W and .38 Special ammo used during WWII? I would like to obtain original cartridges / boxes / cans to go in a display of my WWII era revolvers. Thanks in advance.
usmcdoc67 Posted September 26, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2019 Are you referring to the Victory model. If so, there was a post here sometime ago with good info. Can't locate link though.
cav_cdr Posted September 26, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted September 26, 2019 Yes, for the Victory model, Colt Commando and pre-Victory models. I tried to search for it but came up empty. Would like photos / info on both .38 S&W and .38 Special used during WWII.
Charlie Flick Posted September 26, 2019 Share #4 Posted September 26, 2019 Greetings: The ball ammunition used by the Navy and others authorized to carry the .38 Special revolvers in WW2 was Remington 158 grain Steel Cased ammunition. This ammo, seen in the photo below, was only manufactured in WW2. Also used was the Remington 120 grain Tracer ammo. Two flavors of this ammo are seen below. I don't have time right now for more info. I trust this is what you are looking for. Let me know if anything else is needed. Regards, Charlie Flick
