Tonomachi Posted September 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2019 I believe based on the construction of this patch that it looks like it was made in Thailand. I'm guessing it was for a Pedro Detachment at possibly Nakom Phanum Royal Thai Air Base during the Vietnam War. It depicts a H-43 Huskie helicopter that was utilized initially by USAF Rescue Units during the Vietnam War. Or this could be a current reproduction as it is in real mint condition. It measures 2 3/4 inch in diameter. Anyone know for sure?
Tonomachi Posted May 11, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted May 11, 2020 I just found out that this is a reproduction produced for George Petersen of National Capitol Historical Sales (see NHCS photo). NHCS sells a lot of reproductions and even though everything is listed as such (copy) once it leaves their hands some folks either out of ignorance or purposely sell these copies as originals which is not very healthy for our hobby. Wake1941 Posted May 11, 2020 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2020 Looks like a match to me, someone probably trimmed some of the remaining material off the back
Randy Posted May 11, 2020 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2020 Yes, I've seen those NHCS listings too. Not a fan, for the reasons you stated. Even if you list it truthfully, you have to know down the line someone will not. Though this wouldn't fool me, it's close enough to fool others, especially those just starting out. And they wonder why we can't get younger folks interested in this hobby... Randy
