I looked online and cannot determine the Vietnamese? Ribbon on the far left. Shirt is named to Capt John Lewis who was awarded the DSC for actions outside Hue in 1968 serving with the 1st Cavalry Division. Thank you in advance for the time and help with this.

Lewis was in B Co 2/12 Cav So The VUA is no doubt for QUANG TIN PROVINCE 2nd Bn 12th Cav cited1-31 Oct 1967. The omission of a PUC is odd, the unit he was in, the B Co 2nd Battalion 12th Cav had by mid 1968 one with 2 oak leafs, PLEIKU PROVINCE 1st and 2nd Bns 12th Cav cited 23 Oct 1965, and one for the very same operation Lewis was awarded the DSC, QUANG NAM PROVINCE 2nd Bn 12th Cav 2 Jan-12 Feb 1968.

Here's the strangest thing about Lewis, note his photo on page above is as an old looking EM, we see by his rack he was in Korea, not nothing odd there, but he is listed in the rank as a officer, thing is a listing for him, Lewis John J. (same O serial number and all), does show in the Officer Registry as of 1 January 1969, BUT date of birth is given as we see in 1947, what gives there? Got to be some error right, no way a boy born in 1947 will be fighting in Korea 1950-53.

Yes, it was the faded Vietnam Campaign ribbon on the bottom right that got me  Hmm I.m beginning to think the portrait posted in his DSC page is an error.

Hi Patches, I believe you are correct that the picture on the webpage is not the correct John J. Lewis, but likely his father who had the same name. Attached is a photo of the son being awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.

Good job, would there be a way to put a cropped image on that page.

Hi Patches, if you want you can download the image (JPEG format) and crop it, then submit the image to the page. I do not know if you need it, but you have my permission.
