GO 1, 1/1/1920 PH SSM clarification

It seems there is consences that General Order 1 January 1, 1920 is only a listing of First Division wounded that names on that list would qualify for a citation star and in turn in 1932 convert to a Silver Star Medal. The statement at the beginning of that list doesn't mention that these are wounded men.post-159314-0-55834000-1567824664_thumb.jpg

My thought would be that usually they try to spice citations up a bit.

They're not going to say "The Division Commander cites the following officers and soldiers for getting wounded". Doesn't have the same ring to it as "... for gallantry in action and especially meritorious services"

 

I have owned a few 1st ID Silver Star medal groups over the years... the vast majority have been these GO1, where a citation star is issued and a wound recorded, but no specific citation was ever found. I actually had a grouping to a guy who got the Silver Star w/ OLC but didn't know it because he received one citation star for gallantry during the war and another one in 1920 cause he was gassed.
