Help with a Meyer 2nd award CIB

Hello,

I have this, what I believe is a WW2 CIB, that has a star put on later maybe during the Korean War.

I was hoping if anyone on here can tell me if the first Meyer made 2nd award came from the factory like this. You can see the N and Inc are covered up by the mount the Star is on.

Im kind of surprise there is not a lot of info on CIBs. I have looked and could not find one with the star mounted like this.

Thanks for any and all help.

Andy

This is pretty standard. Its a early WWII era CIB which had the star added probably when Korea rolled around. (No need for the star during WWII.)

So my guess is Meyer did weld the star on to the badge themselves. Already had the badges made, makes sense financially.

Personally I love these star added CIB's. Especially on a nice old version!

Good find

Andy,

Nice badge, Myers badges constructed like this are routinely found, though I don't consider them common. I don't think this is a WWII era badge, I believe this is a late 40s to 50s era badge based on the boxed examples I have and the contributions from other members. Important to note that while the badge might have been made in the 40/50s, it might have not been purchased by the Solider for use until the 60s which muddies the timeline for collectors.

Thank you to the both of you!!

I learned a bunch from the replies. They both make sense and I do like the look of the CIB.

Thanks again

Andy
