If only these decorations can talk. This just came in, and is by far one of the most unique acquisitions I’ve added in a long time. It is the largest single miniature bar in my collection currently. This is a 13 place miniature bar to a corpsman who saw quite a bit of service in all theatres of WWII, as well as serving in Korea.

From his decorations, he had a career spanning from 1939 through at least 1953, up to 1957, depending when he saw time in China. He joined the navy in 1939, and saw contact with axis powers soon after joining (as per the A on the American defense medal). He then saw service in both the European/African theatre as well as 8 campaigns in the Pacific theatre, 3 of them in the Philippines. After WWII ended, he did occupation duty until roughly 1948, when his tour ended. He remained in the reserves until Korea broke out, and was attached to a Marine Corps Unit (per the EGA on the Korean War medal) as a corpsman, where he served in 3 different campaigns.

I love the overall look and patina to this bar, and probably the most interesting aspect is that these decorations are court mounted in a British style. Whether the veteran did this or it happened later is unknown. The only thing I wished this bar had was a name to go with it- sadly it is unattributed. Regardless, it’s a stunning testament to a veterans time in uniform.
