Anybody here see issues with this item? I see a few. Here's the link. I'd post the pictures but I have difficulty with that on this forum. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1934-USMC-DRESS-UNIFORM-ATTRIBUTED-COMPLETE-4-PCS/293198810923

Perhaps someone who knows how to post the pictures will do so for future reference.

At first glance looks like a chance at an earlier hat (shape, thinner chin strap) however mohair band is not correct for an EM hat with the EM ega and leather strap, (I would say someone put an officers cover on there but there is no quarterfoil on top so who knows what hat that cover belongs on). Somethings not right there. I also think the discharge diamond is sewn on sideways. You don’t see many of these, but I thought they were mounted so that the longest part of diamond went top to bottom. Anyway regardless, this looks like a grouping that has been pretty significantly monkeyed with. The problems with the hat alone would have me passing.

The cover is interwar era US Army, marine buttons and EGA added. As far as the uniform, The discharge patch is horizontal, and on the wrong sleeve as mentioned, it also looks like it was sewn on yesterday. The chevrons are not even on each sleeve, one was moved down to add the diamond. Fresh, blue ball point ink is not something I’d want to see in a 1930s uniform.

. Upon looking at the cover on the cap closer, I agree. It is NOT a period USN CPO cover. The mohair band of the CPO/ Officer cover was a separate piece.

There was a WWI Sgt. named George Kretchman - Perhaps he bought this uniform from the Depot of Supplies as a member of the Marine Corps League and wore this for ceremonial purposes - He served with the 11th Marines which would entitle him to the GCM and Victory Ribbon with 1 Star - The Expeditionary ribbon may be self awarded.

Marine Corps League members are entitled to purchase uniforms and pieces/parts for ceremonial purposes.

Kretschman was a Member of the Jewish War Veterans and the Marine Corps League in Elmira NY in the 1930's

That explains the many oddities with this group. Outstanding detective work, Thanks for sharing!
