TheMariner Posted August 21, 2019 Share #3 Posted August 21, 2019 Great set thanks for sharing. What amazes me most I think is how few medals he actually received. You would have thought for a 2 war officer he would have more than just a PH and BSM. I guess times were very different.

Allan H. Posted September 14, 2019 Share #15 Posted September 14, 2019 Scott did a great job "translating" but I just want to flesh it out a little: B-N.J. = Born New Jersey 1894, A-N.J. Assessioned from New Jersey- this means that this was his home state at the time of commissioning (or as a cadet would be tallied against the quota of cadets from New Jersey)... P.H.= Purple Heart, G.S.C. = General Staff College eligible list, Graduated Command and General Staff School 1933, Infantry School Company Officers Training Course in 1924, VMI in 1918assigned to the Virginia Military Institute as staff, He was a Private and Bugler in Troop B, 5th Cavalry Connecticut National Guard 20 June 1916- 28 October 1916. 2nd Lieutenant Field Artillery Section O.R.C.Organized Reserve Corps 15 August 17 and vacated (he moved or transferred) 12 Nov 17 (likely for his overseas service) The rest is his tank corps service though it says BEF? British Expeditionary ForcesYES, as that is where our armored forces were originally assigned? Hope that helps some. Very nice group! dskjl Posted September 14, 2019 Share #16 Posted September 14, 2019 Scott, Allan, Thank you both for your translations, its wonderful to have this kind of talent on the forum and even better that you were both so generous with your time knowledge.
