CL53 Fan Posted August 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2019 I picked this 1912 Cap off eBay almost a year ago. It turned out to be pretty neat. It was I'd as Lieut. E. L. Rhone 14th Infantry Reg. and that was it. I thought is was sharp looking with a Penna Embroidered Seal, but I am not usually in the market of buying items, I'd rather find them on my own. This hat sat on eBay a few weeks and didn't sell, and with the auction closing out yet again, Started poking around on the internet to find out who this gentleman was. Short version, Turns out he served in Puerto Rico in 1898 as a private, 16th Penna Co. C, apparent as a Lieut. with the 14th Penna. based on the hat, and then again in WW1 as a captain with the 16th Infantry and 112th Infantry. That was enough for me so I jumped on it. Occaissionly I still find info on him. Captain Edgar Lysle Rhone, Born 19 July 1875 Died 16 Nov 1951 He lived out his days as Sherriff of McKean County Pennsylvania.
