Hello all,

Thank you very much for accepting me onto your forum, appreciate it.

I was wondering if anyone could help me ID this Challenge Coin please. It was left to my partner by her Dad and we cannot find its like anywhere so what better place than on this forum to see if anyone can offer assistance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Mike

Here's my 2 cents. I think it has to do with the 2nd Infantry Division. The shape of the coin is the same as their patch, The Red over Blue in the number "2" and in the ribbon are in the same lay out as the South Korean flag. Since the 2nd INF DIV has units in Korea, The "2" in the middle of the coin would tie in. I think it makes sense. HHC is Headquarters and Headquarters Company. If that is supposed to be a wild Indian (Native American) headdress then it's another fit. I don't know what that image is supposed to be. I googled 2nd ID challenge coins and didn't see a match or anything close. It could be a low number production coin as a lot of units are making their own.

Hi eastereagle87,

Many thanks for your detailed response and no doubt effort in researching on my behalf.

Like you say it all ties in and certainly gives me avenues to research myself.

Much appreciated

Regards

Mike

I agree with Eastern Eagle. I've been posting up a lot of 2D Infantry Division Challenge Coins the last few days. Might actually be for 2d Stryker Brigade Combat Team based on the armored fighting vehicle depicted.

If so, it's a bit of a misrepresentation as the vehicle shown is a Bradley Fighting Vehicle (tracks) and not a Stryker (wheels).

Thank you all for your imput.

I still cannot find a coin similar despite hour of research. Someone suggested to me that HHC 2 are a Chopper unit but this still led me nowhere. Will keep searching.

Mike

You might be spinning your wheels. Especially in Korea, but in may other places as well, these coins are designed and commissioned at company (and sometimes platoon) level. They’re inexpensive and handed out in droves even by company-level officers and NCOs.
