cagedfalcon Posted July 27, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2019 Picked up my first one at a garage sale today. Lever is embossed M6A but inked M10A3, typical? 'OV' marked Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
917601 Posted July 27, 2019 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2019 Interesting, M6A fuzes were made for use with the late war TNT filled grenades, more of a detonator type, and have a red sealant on the fuze ends. M10A3 fuzes were used during most of WW2 and were ignitor type fuzes, having green sealant.
Kaptainssurplus Posted July 27, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 27, 2019 Its actually common to have a double marked spoon,as a lot of spoons were reused. Also common to have mismatched fuze body and spoon. Spoons with half black lever are marked that way to show it was reused as well.
cagedfalcon Posted August 3, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted August 3, 2019 What is the maker 'OV', if I'm seeing correctly. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
917601 Posted August 3, 2019 Share #5 Posted August 3, 2019 Its actually common to have a double marked spoon,as a lot of spoons were reused. Also common to have mismatched fuze body and spoon. Spoons with half black lever are marked that way to show it was reused as well.Spoons were painted black to show they were " modified", i.e., M10A2 to M10A3, M200 to M10A3, etc....a lot of debate between grenade collectors about the black painted lever. No TM or directive states reused spoons to be painted black, but pics do show the modified fuzes to be over painted black. The other debate is the notion M200 fuzes are not " correct", they are, many dug from European battle grounds. The debates will probably never be settled, due to war time expediency there is no hard and fast rules in the grenade field. See picture.
