Help on ID: Avengers of Bataan Pin - 38th Div WWII

So I collect 38th Div items and recently found a pin just like the one below next to the patch (the only reference I found online was that completed auction photo without info).

I know it's 38th Division WWII, but when/how was it worn? Is it a sweat heart piece or something unofficial? The pin back clasp looks fairly primitive, Philippine made?

Thanks!

This is an unauthorized DI, not a “pin”, for the 38th ID. Yes, Philippine-made, and rare. When found, they are either painted or unpainted, like yours.

A similar UA DI exists for the 86th ID, and another Div, but the ID escapes me know.

Tred-

Much appreciated - that's why I put it in the DI section, I figured if it was anything worn on a uniform, that had to be it.

I never thought these were a DI, as worn on the collar or shoulder and worn in pairs. If I remember right, they were worn on the pocket flap, below the ribbons.
