mds308 Posted July 18, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2019 Nice vintage theater patch from the estate of a US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant. The black pegasus belongs to the 22nd Tactical Fighter Training Squadron. Please help date this patch. I'm leaning towards Vietnam. I have been unable to find the history of this unit. Please help. Thanks.

mds308 Posted July 19, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted July 19, 2019 Thanks. 2nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron. I saw a subdued patch that had TFTS. I thought it was marked 22nd but I may have misread it. It appears this patch was from 1951-1969.
Randy Posted July 19, 2019 Share #5 Posted July 19, 2019 The OP is actually the 2 Fighter-Interceptor Training Sq. from 74-82. It was also used for a short time as the 2 Fighter Weapons Sq. from 82-84 with no design change. The early 2 FITS version in 74 did have two tabs as pictured. These were later deleted. A close look makes me wonder if yours originally was a 2 FIS patch with the tabs removed. Hard to tell, but I'll add that as well here. Randy Posted July 20, 2019 Share #6 Posted July 20, 2019 And here's a known 2 FITS/FWS. Note merrowed edge. This is how most if not all I've seen are edged. Randy
