ClaptonIsGod Posted July 17, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2019 Bought these items unrelated from two different sellers, but given that they are both WWI and have engravings/unit markings, feel they should be together on one post since I have questions on the unit IDs and values. Not usually much of a field gear or WWI guy, but these were so cool and reasonable I had to pick them up. First up is a 1917 dated Perkins-Cambell holster with brass hardware, inspected by R.J.M. Overall it looks and feels great for a 102 year old piece of leather. On the flap, it has stamped: D.A.L. (I think, was hard to photograph but almost positive on the AL and fairly sure the first letter is a D) CO. C 86. What unit would this be, and what is the holster worth? ClaptonIsGod Posted July 17, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted July 17, 2019 Second item I got was this 1917 LFC mess kit with fork, spoon, and collapsible cup. The mess kit has HENRY W. and some kind of symbol engraved on the back, not sure if anybody would recognize the symbol but the backwards N makes me think perhaps it was engraved by a kid sometime after 1917? The fork is marked RIA 1911, and has 323. 1. 211. stamped over the US mark. Again, assuming this is a unit but no clue what it means. The spoon is 1917 dated, hard to make out the maker mark. Lastly, a collapsible cup made by Hero patented/trademarked October 8th, 1912. Like with the holster, would love thoughts on a unit ID and value for the kit. Thanks much
