Hello Everyone,

I just picked up this nice group of items belonging to a Major in the 77th Division from a local flea market.  I managed to get most of his stuff, but unfortunately missed out on his jungle boots, dog tags and an Iraqi license plate he had brought back.  I was fortunate to get a stack of maps of Iraq, along with a pile of Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education manila envelopes and a pile of maps from various US military reservations.  Of the three chocolate chip pattern tops I found, one wasn't even worn.  I hope everyone enjoys the photos, and I would love to hear some suggestions on how other forum members store their groupings when they are not on display.  Thanks in advance for the suggestions and comments.

Vic

Here is his unworn desert camo top with his boogie hat. They look to have never been worn. and finally his rain poncho and a stack of maps of US military reservations.

Neat uniform!

The vet likely only wore this uniform a few times. Ive purchased several ODS uniforms from vets, and they stated they didnt get the DBDU uniforms until just before coming home, and really only wore them a few times when headed back stateside. I had an 89th ARCOM nurses uniform that was very similar to this set, and other than wearing hers on the plane back to the US and then to a Halloween party a few years later, it badically looked like new.

As Longbranch said, the minty uniform was most likely the one that he was issued prior to leaving Saudi Arabia and heading to the US. There were a lot of units, especially ones coming from Germany, that never got a DBDU issue prior to leaving theater. The major's combat patch, the 22nd SUPCOM, tells me he was most likely in a Combat Service Support role as that is what most of the SUPCOM mas made up of- ordnance, quartermaster, transportation, and the like.

Longbranch- your nurse would have served with the 410th EVAC hospital, and I'll bet she was from Topeka or one of the other nearby cities in Kansas.

Thats Great. Thanks for the information.  I haven't started researching this yet, but am looking forward to it.  I did notice that on that set, he had not sewn on his unit SSI.
