tony75 Posted July 7, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2019 Hello What are your thoughts on this unit Crest? WW2 or Post? I have looked everywhere to ID it but no luck. Thank you very much Tony

GIl Sanow Posted July 7, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 7, 2019 It shows Benjamin Franklin who founded the Pennsylvania Associators, the voluntary militia during the French and Indian Wars. Pennsylvania, founded by pacifist Quakers had resisted creating a militia which required all males to participate, so the Associators were strictly volunteers. Three of my ancestors served as Bucks County Associators in 1776 and two continued to serve after March 1777 when the Pennsylvania militia was formed. (The third was over 60, so did not.) Franklin is remembered as the founder of the PA NG predecessor. G
Allan H. Posted July 7, 2019 Share #4 Posted July 7, 2019 These are great DUIs! Even though the 111th Infantry was a PA National Guard outfit, they were relieved from the 28th Infantry Division and sent to the Pacific theater while the remainder of the PA Guard units deployed to the ETO as part of the 28th "Bloody Bucket" Division.
