917601 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted July 6, 2019 Interesting to note, our technology has evolved. We no longer have to lathe turn each artillery shell, it appears the shells are of correct OD after hot press forming. The lathe turning marks are found on older manufactured projectiles, now a huge savings in labor and time. Our war machine is impressive.
USARV72 Posted July 6, 2019 Share #5 Posted July 6, 2019 Austrian company GFM mfg’s all sizes of barrel forging machines, some hot(large) , cold for small arms. Many US barrel mfg’s have their machines. Ruger bought the first IIRC in 1979?
