When I was a kid, I remember running around surplus stores that actually stockpiled surplus equipment. My grand father owned a surplus store/gun shop in Rosewell, NM after WWII. He would take me around to other shops in the state and educate me on military equipment. Most surplus stores these days sell knock off Chinese military equipment. On the 4th, I found a nice little shop in Southern California that remind me of my youth. I found these two Mitchell covers in a pile of about 20 and walked away with them for $15. From what I found, they are dated 1969. Im sure the markings are a mystery, but any ideas from the forum would be interesting to know.

There is also some graffiti on the first cover. ATB his/hers initials on front, her L name and first initial on the side, LADY Rose on the back, and his/her first name around a heart shape cut out on the cover.

Great covers! What a find!

Love the heart-shaped cut. Gives the cover much character and would be even nicer to look at on an M1 shell.

These are sweet. I just got a graffiti'd Vietnam helmet, and I feel like i've been bit by the graffiti bug - I want more!

Cool find.

they use to have boxes full of these at surplus stores, I had so many that I cut some up to make camo scrim.

now they are getting uncommon / rare to find
